The Iconic Legend Gets an Upgrade: Discover the 2024 Jeep Wrangler

Reaching the world’s automotive scene at the 1986 Chicago Auto Show, the first-generation Jeep Wrangler set the stage for what would become an iconic nameplate the world over! The fourth-generation Wrangler JL came about in 2017, ushering in a new era for the American SUV, whilst also introducing a fully-electric Wrangler 4xe for the first time.

On April 5, 2023, Stellantis unveiled the 2024 Jeep Wrangler at the 2023 New York Auto Show, thus launching a new chapter of this iconic Jeep SUV. The new model will host all the capabilities of the 2023 Wrangler while adding several new features and technologies, in the hopes of making it an even better deal for customers.

Speaking at the unveiling of the new Wrangler, Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO said, “The Jeep Wrangler is the archetypal adventure hero, embodying the spirit and the soul of the Jeep brand. This is a no-compromise combination enhanced by the freedom to choose from four different powertrains, including our electrified 4xe, which is the best-selling PHEV in America.”

What’s new with the design of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler?

One of the most noticeable differences between the two models can be seen at the front, where the entire grille design has been given a thorough makeover. The new seven-slotted grille is a touch more compact and modern-looking while maintaining the heritage-rich Jeep signature with aplomb. The circular headlights have also been updated to suit the new but familiar front fascia, looking perfectly proportionate and suave despite the renewed styling.

Similarly, the hood has also been given a tweak – albeit a subtle one. A few other additions worth mentioning on the outside of the 2024 Wrangler include a new windshield-integrated antenna and up to 10 new wheel designs. All that said, the new Jeep Wrangler hasn’t lost any of its old-school charm and character – it’s still a rugged-looking 4x4 that will draw in fans of the previous model.

What has changed on the inside of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler?

Compared to the 2023 Jeep Wrangler, the interior of the 2024 Wrangler looks more modern and upmarket. The leather-upholstered seats look comfortable and supportive, with a decent amount of bolstering along the thigh area, while the overall quality of materials appears to be of a higher quality than before.

Jeep has moved the center air vents to the bottom of the new center display and are now of a slim rectangular design. There’s also plusher material used along the middle portion located right between the main screen and the HVAC panel. Much of the rest of this cabin is almost identical to that of the 2023 Wrangler, with switches and controls for the four-wheel-drive system and its associated paraphernalia.

What are the noteworthy features of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler?

The new Jeep Wrangler comes equipped with an advanced cruise control system that can bring the SUV to a complete stop, forward collision warning (FCW), multiple airbags that include first- & second-row curtain airbags, reversing & off-road cameras, plus traction & stability management.

The soft-top variant of the new 2024 Wrangler gets the Jeep’s ‘Sky One-Touch’ power-operated opening & closing mechanism, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, multi-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by the Uconnect 5 software & boasting up to 3,000 off-road trail guides, and also a revised gauge cluster.

How’s the new Jeep Wrangler like under the skin?

Depending on the variant, the 2024 Wrangler can be had with a Warn winch that’s capable of handling up to 8,000 lbs (3,628 kg), along with a crawl ratio of up to 100:1, a new Dana 44 HD Full Float solid rear axle with a capacity to handle larger tires over the standard factory-fitted ones, and a maximum towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg).

In the UAE market, the new 2024 Jeep Wrangler is likely to be offered with a choice of 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.6-liter naturally-aspirated Pentastar V6 petrol engines – both mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The turbo motor produces 270 hp and 400 Nm of torque, while the large six-cylinder engine pumps out 285 hp and 352 Nm of torque.

The automaker should also be introducing the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid in the region, which is powered by the same turbocharged four-pot mill but also backed by dual electric motors to crank out 470 hp and 637 Nm of maximum torque. Here too, an 8-speed automatic gearbox handles transmission duties. With a full battery (17.3 kWh capacity), the Wrangler 4xe boasts an all-electric range of nearly 34 km. The Wrangler sports a full-time 4WD (four-wheel drive) system with a dedicated low-speed transfer case, while the new full-float Dana rear axle allows for larger off-road tires to be installed to tackle the harshest of terrains.

Is the new 2024 Jeep Wrangler on sale in the UAE?

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler will begin reaching customers in the U.S. in the second half of 2023, while the UAE market should start receiving its first units later this year or early next year. Prices for the all-new Wrangler in the States commence at USD 31,895 (roughly AED 117,100).

However, considering the outgoing model starts from AED 189,900 in the UAE, the new 2024 Wrangler will at least cost as much once it’s launched. Buyers can expect the new Jeep 4x4 to be offered in Sport, Willys, Sahara, High Altitude, Rubicon, and Rubicon 392 trim levels.
