MG Cyberster to Grace Middle-East Roads

The British-born brand MG dons a rich heritage of building sports coupes that were quintessential examples of nimble, bantamweight machines that portrayed British excellence in automobile engineering. Introduced as the spiritual successor to the iconic MGB coupe, comes the Cyberster- a culmination of legacy and electrification in a contemporary avatar. 

As the brand goes gung-ho in celebrating its centenary, MG has organized a 10,000-mile road trip with the journey commencing from Westminster Bridge in the UK to visiting the Middle-East nations of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh and Jeddah), Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) in January. 

Behind the wheel, are the two adventurous twins, Ross and Hugo Turner who aim to experience cultural diversity while heralding MG’s innovative technology as they venture on the expedition. 

The Cyberster is all about detail with a hunkered stance, sassy scissor doors and tail lights resembling the left and right arrows for effective signaling in the direction the car is headed. Adorning the drama further, are muscular rear haunches that add to its sporty credentials. The car’s visage is the outcome of joint effort between MG’s London design studio and its parent company, SAIC Motor’s design studio in Shanghai.

Looks are just the tip of the iceberg as beneath the skin, lies a feisty 77 kWh electric motor capable of catapulting the car to 100 Km/h in a bewildering 3.2 seconds. However, for those wanting to curtail their adrenaline levels by a fair margin, a less powerful 64 kWh motor option is available which does the same task in a more comprehensible manner.

As gutsy as the car is, are the twins who have driven transcontinental through the Atlantic landscapes and look forward to ticking-off the Middle-East from their bucket list by devouring a one-of-its-kind experience as gates open for them. 

The lightning fast coupe is set to grace the Middle-East tarmac between January 14th and February 19th and inhale the essence of the prevalent culture while warping a strong base for MG’s future electric cars. The journey is also undertaken to fathom the EV infrastructure in the Middle-East. The car will pose with the larger-than-life landmarks in each of the Middle-East nations.

It’s an arduous task of curating something that odes to the past while building a strong emotional and business case for itself but the Cyberster has managed to do that and how!
