The first-generation Nissan X-Terra was first launched in 1999, and it was penned by the Japanese brand’s design studio in California, United States. Typical of the SUVs from that era, the X-Terra features a boxy exterior and a body-on-frame underpinning. Even though the first-gen model introduced the X-Terra nameplate to the world, it was the larger second-generation model that made a lasting impact.

Beginning in the mid-to-late 2000s, the Nissan X-Terra sold a lot of units in the UAE. In fact, it was one of the primary vehicles used by various law enforcement authorities throughout the country. Over the coming few years, stricter emissions and safety norms in multiple markets meant that Nissan had to pull the plug on the X-Terra. However, it wasn’t too long before Nissan announced the resurrection of this SUV. The new Nissan X-Terra is a far cry from the model it replaces, though that’s both a good and a bad thing.

While the Nissan X-Terra could well be your next new car, you can also find cheap used cars in Dubai and several secondhand cars in Dubai for sale on YallaMotor. You can also sell your car through YallaMotor, as it is one of the best ways to sell your car in Dubai.

Design

Where the previous-gen X-Terra boasted a tall, sturdy, and squarish exterior, the new Nissan X-Terra’s design has been modernized thoroughly. The front gets vertical chrome bars and a four-slatted grille, flanking which are full-LED headlights with LED daytime-running lights. There are stylized faux vents integrated into the sculpted front bumper, along with a pseudo skid plate, and a muscular hood with raised extensions on either side.

The Nissan X-Terra has grown in size compared to its predecessor, now coming in at 4,900 mm in length and 1,865 mm in width, while boasting a lengthier wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The side design of the new X-Terra comes with flared bulges above the wheel arches, deep wheel wells with 18-inch alloys, and fixed side steps. There is a large ‘X-Trail’ branding at the back on the tailgate, a thick chrome bar, a beefy bumper with a faux skid plate, and new taillights with LED elements.

The 2024 model of the Nissan X-Terra 2023 is pretty much unchanged, and customers can have it in a multitude of exterior colors – there is Red, Brown, Black, Gray, Silver, and White. Even though the design language of the Nissan X-Terra is much more modern than its predecessor, there will be a few who will always prefer the boxier and more rugged look of the second-generation X-Terra.

Interior

The previous-gen X-Terra was not known for having an upscale or well-appointed cabin. It had, what most people would call, a rugged-looking but plasticky interior. With the all-new X-Terra, Nissan has addressed those shortcomings to a measurable extent. Depending on the variant and the market, the X-Terra’s interior can be dressed in either a light dual-tone or a dark dual-tone – the latter will appease those wanting that ‘sporty’ touch.

Higher variants of the new X-terra get stitched leather on the dashboard and seats, soft leather upholstery, and shiny plastic trim on the dashboard, center console, and switches. The new leather-wrapped steering wheel is in line with what we find in several other new Nissan cars, while the octagonal touchscreen is a far better system than the old-fashioned unit found in the old X-Terra. The same goes for the modern air-conditioning panel and the semi-digital gauge cluster.

Even though the interior of the previous-gen X-Terra was relatively bland, the new one is unlikely to knock your socks off, as its design is pretty generic. Having said that, the theater-like seating ensures that the occupants in all three rows get a good view ahead – the “Zero Gravity” front & second-row seats are quite comfortable. The flip & tumble second-row seats are easy to use, and there are lots of storage cubbies and roof-mounted AC vents for the rear row.

The Nissan X-Terra 2023 interior design comes across as fairly logical and spacious, with the acoustic glass offering a rather quiet cabin, and the center-seat armrest has integrated cupholders. Overall, this is a pretty decent interior for a family hauler that gets just enough cargo space behind the third row to carry some soft bags.

Features

The Nissan X-Terra 2023 features list is pretty comprehensive, though it might not be particularly exciting for buyers in search of the latest and greatest. Some of the most apparent features of the new Nissan X-Terra include keyless entry with push-button start, an electronic parking brake, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, an 11-inch roof-mounted rear entertainment screen, plus Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.

Then there are other important features like ABS with EBD, front & rear parking sensors with surround-view cameras, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, shift-on-the-fly drive mode selector, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, adaptive cruise control with auto-emergency braking, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Intelligent Rear View Mirror.

Specs

The new Nissan X-Terra in the UAE comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 165 hp and 241 Nm of torque, and it is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Nissan X-Terra can be had in either two-wheel-drive (2WD) or four-wheel-drive (4WD) configurations, with handy features like Electronic Locking Rear Differential and Brake Limited Slip Differential to help this SUV handle better off-road.

The Nissan X-Terra has a ground clearance of 243 mm, an approach angle of 32.3 degrees, and a departure angle of 26.6 degrees. The Nissan X-Terra’s fuel consumption is officially reported to be 11.4 km/L or 8.7 L/100 km, though this new model’s outright performance is not as punchy as that of the old X-Terra V6.

Price

The new Nissan X-Terra in the UAE is available in SE 2WD, SE 4WD, Titanium 2WD, Titanium 4WD, and Platinum 4WD — the price of the Nissan X-Terra in the UAE ranges between AED 104,000 and AED 143,000.
