Quick Review

The 2013 Volkswagen Passat belongs in the category of the mid-size sedans and for 2013 it is a unique version which is a great deal larger. There is nothing about the design that stands out as being new though other than there being some nice detail, including the body side creases which run from the headlight back to the tail light. Competitors models include the Kia Optima and the Hyundaid Sonata.

While the vehicle is bigger than previous models, a great deal of the extra space went into the back seats which now come with a full length cushion which offers an extremely comfortable ride for the family. The vehicle is aimed at the family market and there is also a great deal of storage space in the trunk of the vehicle.

On the interior the materials are first class and have a luxurious feel with a soft touch dashboard. The cabin, even on the basic model, feels solid and the SEL has wood trim while the SEL Premium comes with leather upholstery. The layout for the controls is simple but very effective, however it lacks the same wow factor you get with the dash of the Kia Optima or even the Toyota Camry.

The basic 2013 Volkswagen Passat is the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission and does a great job in powering the car. Handling of the vehicle is great as the car has exceptional grip on the road and body motion control. The ride is one of comfort and it is very quiet when on open roads. It handles just as well traveling around in the city.
