Earlier this year (modified by ADNOC) an Infiniti G37 running on CNG was displayed at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.

CNG is increasingly being used; after it's main adoption by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority.

With an initiative of converting government cars and taxis from petrol, Abu Dhabi Emirates Transport will start converting its diesel vehicles including full-sized buses to environmentally friendly natural gas (CNG) from start of next year.

Green cars save AED 2.3 million as reported in the National.

Private car owners can also convert their vehicles at Emirates Transport in Khalifa City A. This conversion center is the largest in UAE with five centers in operation. By issuing a certificate verifying the appropriate conversion of their car by Emirates Transport, vehicles can conveniently be converted to CNG.

Conversion to CNG since 2010:

1, 300 taxis

2. 500 Abu Dhabi Police cars

3. 10 per cent of the police fleet

4. 500 government vehicles

With the UAE capital forging ahead in implementing this plan, we wait till the other emirates take action. CNG is considered safer than petrol cars with less carbon emissions and if CNG runs out, it's possible to switch back to petrol.
