Motor Shows are a great place to find a healthy dose of some of the most stunning and heart-pounding cars on the planet. However, at the other end of this spectrum, we also have cars that (though not bad) don’t really get the cockles of our heart warmed up and in general, fail to offer any form of excitement. Keeping that in mind, here are our picks for three such cars that didn’t quite come into the limelight at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Now we know that minivans (in general) are never going to win any beauty pageant contest, or even set our hearts on fire. That said, carmakers don’t give up on making them sound all exciting and fabulous, and such is the case with the all-new 2018 Chrysler Pacifica.

Chrysler Pacifica 2018 side

The all-new 2018 Chrysler Pacifica actually features pretty decent exterior styling and comes with a punchy 3.6-liter V6 that makes 287 horses. A 9-speed automatic handles transmission duties, sending power to the front wheels. This means that the 2018 Pacifica will hit 100 km/h in around 8 seconds, while top speed is north of 170 km/h – not bad for a people mover, right? The interior is pretty well laid out, with plenty of nifty features and safety kit on offer, plus the quality is pretty decent as well.

All that said, at the end of the day, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica didn’t make the cut to be on our Top 3 Loved Cars list.

2018 Hyundai Santa Fe

While the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica is an all-new car, the same can’t be said about the 2018 incarnation of the Hyundai Santa Fe. This family SUV hasn’t undergone any radical changes in its overall form factor and continues to be offered as a practical but uninspiring 7-seater. The Hyundai Santa Fe is the perfect choice if you don’t want to stand out from the vast crowd of SUVs/Crossovers that are available these days.

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe at the motor show came with a 286 HP 3.3-liter V6 and paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission, with drive going to all four wheels. The top speed of the V6-powered Santa Fe is 190 km/h, while the 0-100 km/h run takes 8.5 seconds.

Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 cabin

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe comes with space for 7 occupants and is fitted with the standard array of safety options like ABS with EBD, stability assist, multiple airbags and more. While the overall build quality is fine and comes across as a rather practical place to spend time in, the cabin design itself hasn’t seen many changes and now feels decidedly dated.

Nissan Micra

Few cars garnered as weak a response as the Nissan Micra at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show. This comes across as little surprise as the Micra was discontinued from Nissan’s portfolio back in 2016.

The (new?) Nissan Micra that was on display at the motor show did seem to have gone through some design tweaks. The newer model had much sharper lines when compared to its previous bubble-like iteration. It also sported redesigned front and rear bumpers, fancier black alloy wheels, black exterior door handles, and black wing mirrors.

Despite the exterior nip and tuck, the Nissan Micra’s crowd-drawing abilities at the motor show can be best described as lukewarm. Though the interior is pretty roomy for a hatchback of this size, and there are decent onboard equipment and safety features, this car wasn’t the center of attraction and it is possible to see why.
