The Bentley Batur is a stunning, coach-built W12 grand tourer

Bentley’s coachbuilding specialists division, Mulliner, has revealed a very special car - the Batur. The Batur shows us two things: first, its design gives us a sneak peek into how future Bentley EVs will look like and second, it’s a limited run special that marks the end of Bentley’s iconic 6.0 litre W12 engine.

Let’s talk about how it looks. Gorgeous, isn't it? The Batur is a two-door fixed-head coupé based on the Conti GT and powered by the most powerful Crewe-built W12 engine ever. While the engine is still under development, it will produce at least 730 horsepower and 740 lb-ft of torque. This means that the Batur is set to be the most powerful Bentley yet.

As it comes from Mulliner, the Batur is completely coach built and is named after a volcanic lake in Bali, Indonesia. The Batur features the British carmaker’s most advanced chassis along with three-chamber air suspension, 48V electric active anti-roll control, an electronic limited-slip differential and unique 22 inch wheels with rear steering.

The interior is similar to the one found in the Bacalar. It has carpets made out of recycled yarn and it also has specific 3D-printed components in 18-karat gold.

Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Adrian Hallmark said: “The 18 lucky customers who have already reserved their Batur will enjoy an unrivalled co-creation experience with our Mulliner Design team in specifying their cars. The Batur is the next step in Mulliner’s expansion, demonstrating the demand for truly bespoke vehicles that combine luxury and performance in ways that only Bentley can deliver.”

Only 18 Baturs will be built with each one costing £1.65 million. With production beginning next year, the first Baturs are set to reach customers in late 2023.
