Honda Civic 2016 launched in UAE

Honda Motor Company held an exclusive event for the launch of the all-new 2016 Honda Civic. The event was attended by Honda Middle East management and the members of the media. The venue for the event was Four Seasons Resort Jumeirah Beach, Dubai. The itinerary included a press conference, followed by a session of ‘feeling’ the car and giving feedback and finally the test drive to Fujairah and return the next day (you can read about the test drive here). The event was kicked off by Mr. Shunicha Uchida – the former Regional Director of Honda Middle East. He took the stage to explain the 3 strategies of Honda Middle East i.e. Enhancement of Product, Development of Dealer Networks and Enhancement of Honda Middle East. After that, he introduced the new Regional Director of Honda Middle East – Hiroaki Shibata – who basically is adamant about changing the image of Honda Civic and bringing back the glory days.

Then Mr. Hiroshi Ito took stage to give a few details of Honda Civic as a brand. The car is entering its 10th generation with 2016 model. Honda Civic starting production in 1973 and till 2013, 710,000 units have been sold. The model is available in 170 countries. Moreover, the car is produced in 9 locations around the world. The 2016 Honda Civic was created by keeping the European luxury compact sedans as a benchmark and features the best-in-class volume.

Finally, Mr. Arijit Basu stepped on the podium to announce the grades and features of the 2016 Honda Civic. The new Civic will be available in the Middle East in three grades. The base model will be LXi and the mid-range will be EXi. The top-of-the-range Civic will be the RS trim. The RS is a Middle East exclusive trim featuring rear A/C vents, transmission cooler for CVT, full-size spare tire, paddle shifts, spoiler and a special black grille. The target market for the new Civic is buyers under 30 years.
