Dubai Police start using drones to monitor traffic across the city

To better enhance the safety and security of motorists in and around the city, Dubai Police have started using drones that are linked to operation rooms and broadcast live footage of traffic jams / road incidents to police officers using 4G technology.
The drones being used can transmit a clear image of the traffic jam / incident directly to the control room and help people take alternative routes to reduce peak hour congestion. Used for more than just traffic monitoring, however, the drones also help Dubai Police assess fire and accidents sites in the city.
Armed with an advanced camera and communications system, the drones provide live video feed and thermal images to the central command center, allowing Dubai Civil Defense (DCD) and Dubai Police to better plan their response to a rescue mission and/or an emergency.
All Dubai Police patrol units have been fitted with live-broadcast technology since 2008 and in 2012, motorbike patrols were also fitted with 3G technology.
