Ferrari SF90

Are you someone who has always fantasized about owning a high-performance, pedigree-rich, stupendously enigmatic, and fast supercar with almost a thousand horsepower to boot? Well, you are in luck as Ferrari might just have the right car for you – it is called the SF90 Stradale, and it is the latest in the line of connoisseur supercars to hail from the godly chambers of the Italian automaker’s Maranello temple. The all-new Ferrari SF90 Stradale is related, spiritually and in body, to the outgoing F8 Tributo.

If you are wondering what its name means, it is Ferrari’s idea of a throwback to the 2019 Formula One car with the same title while also combining the team’s 90th anniversary. Meanwhile, ‘Stradale’ in the Italian marque’s parlance stands for ‘road’. As with many modern-day sports and supercars, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a plug-in hybrid but not for reasons of fuel economy as we shall discover. Given its positioning within the Ferrari family tree, pricing, and performance, one of the closest contenders of the SF90 Stradale is the iconic and another Italian – the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.

Exterior

The importance of exterior design for a Prancing Horse cannot be overstressed, and thankfully for all of us, the SF90 Stradale looks absolutely sublime! It is easy to see the SF90’s thoroughbred lines that do more for aerodynamics than simply being drawn over to make the thing look beautiful. Of course, those very lines and curves DO make this Ferrari stand-out even when compared to the Tributo or 488. Some of the most noteworthy design aspects on this supercar include the wing element on the nose, a massive and elaborate front spoiler and lower wing, ultra-sleek LED headlamps with distinctive LED running lights, and a smartly-carved hood.

The SF90 Stradale features unique five-spoke wheels, huge ceramic brakes, specially-sculpted door-mounted wing mirrors, beautiful roofline, massively-flared rear fenders, plus a large air inlet just behind the doors. The funky yet absolutely functional rear of the SF90 Stradale has been specially crafted to aid in improving the aerodynamics whilst also decreasing drag as much as possible. Here, you will find the SF90’s gorgeous LED taillights, a computer-controlled active rear spoiler, bumper-integrated twin-pipe exhausts, and a thorough rear diffuser which further enhances this car’s handling and high-speed characteristics.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is definitely not a tiny car, measuring 4.710 meters in length and 1.972 meters in width. However, the top of its roof is just 1.186 meters off the ground. And yes, there isn’t much of any usable cargo space here, but who cares right?

Interior

Ferrari SF90 Interior

On the inside, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale’s cabin is all about function over form, though there are plenty of things to like about its design and styling. As with other Ferraris, the steering wheel is packed with buttons and controls to ensure your hands remain on the wheel. The huge digital instrument cluster is customizable and can show every function (performance and infotainment related) to the driver. The fancy layout of the dashboard, especially the air-conditioning vents, capacitive HVAC controls, and a secondary touchscreen, make for some interesting eye-candy.

Ferrari interiors are some of the best, featuring master craftsmanship, superb materials, and fantastic fit & finish. This one’s no different. The carbon-fiber seats are designed to keep and your passenger in place while also offering enough comfort and back support on most average urban drives. Of course, these near-racing buckets are the way they are keeping in mind some spirited driving, not mundane crawling through mall parking or everyday grocery runs.

Engine and performance

Strapped to the rear mid-section of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a 4.0-liter V8 that’s further assisted by three electric motors to produce a combined total of 986 hp and 800 Nm of torque. The drivetrain also consists of an ultra-snappy and intelligently programmed 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that makes gear shifting in the SF90 Stradale a fun and engaging affair. Turn all the right knobs, and the SF90 Stradale will spring into action – blowing past the 100 km/h mark in an alarming 2.5 seconds! As for its top whack, this prancing horse is rated at 340 km/h.

Verdict

Ferrari SF90

If you can afford its near-two million dirham price tag (sans any options, of course), the Ferrari SF90 Stradale will plaster a grin on your face which will be extremely hard to take off.
