The Mitsubishi Pajero is still going strong 35 years after it was introduced, with the first generation launched in 1982. The fourth generation Mitsubishi Pajero 2017 carries on the proud tradition set by its predecessors with five versions available in Qatar at a price range of QAR 83,000 to QAR 140,000. The Pajero holds its own against its rival Chevrolet Captiva with off-road enthusiasts who love nothing more than to take their SUV out for a drive in the desert.
Exterior
The Pajero boasts of a sleek exterior with elegant touches such as chrome outer door handles and front grille, as well as chrome power door mirrors with turn and approach lamps and defoggers. Other notable exterior features include a LED daytime running lamp and rear fog lamp for increased visibility while driving, seventeen-inch alloy wheels, black door sashes, and a silver front lower bumper.

Interior
The stylish interior gives off an aura of comfort, with soft leather seats and leather-wrapped controls, as well as other luxurious appointments. It is also spacious, with sufficient legroom and headroom for up to seven passengers. You also have the flexibility to arrange the seating and create additional storage space with the third-row seats able to be stowed underneath the floor or removed entirely.
Safety
To ensure better handling and comfort while driving over less-than-ideal road conditions, the ladder frame has been strengthened to nearly thrice its previous levels in past designs. This change reduces the chances of control loss by improving resistance to flexural and torsional stresses. Other notable safety features include headlamp washers and rain sensing wipers to ensure visibility during inclement weather conditions, active stability control and active traction control as well as 6 SRS airbags.

Specs
The engine capacities of the various versions of the Pajero available in Qatar range from 3.0L to 3.8L. At the lower end, the 3.0L engine generates 184 horsepower and 267 Nm of torque, while at the higher end, the 3.8L engine packs 250 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque. Fuel economy ranges from 13L/100 km to 13.5L/100 km.
Verdict
When it comes to choosing between the Pajero and the Captiva, the deciding factor may ultimately boil down to practicality vs. power. The Captiva has a lower price range of QAR 77,000 to QAR 116,000, which means it provides better value for money. It also has superior fuel economy, ranging from 8.9L/100 km to 10.7L/100 km. On the other hand, the Pajero has more powerful specs as well as better off-road capability. You could say they target different needs at the end of the day.
