Bugatti Centodieci

Bugatti is no stranger to the world of niche, ultra expensive and well-crafted automobiles. Founded by Ettore Bugatti way back in 1909, Bugatti Automobiles is still headquartered in Molsheim, France. This year also marked 110 years of Bugatti Automobiles, so in order to celebrate such a momentous occasion, the historic marque launched an all-new car - the Centodieci. The name, which is basically Italian for ‘110’, also hints at one of the brand’s previous yet crucial EB110 model from the early 1990s.

As you can imagine, the 2020 Bugatti Centodieci isn’t supposed to be a mass-market vehicle, but will be limited to just 10 units for the entire world. Such ultra exclusivity means that the Bugatti Centodieci sits in a league of its own -- there really aren’t that many cars (even the rare ones) that can seriously hold a candle against this masterpiece from Molsheim. And while it is a rare species, the general underbody architecture of the Centodieci is still based on the already-spectacular Chiron.

Exterior

One of the most distinctive aspects of the 2020 Bugatti Centodieci is its unique, almost cartoonish but thoroughly functional exterior design. The almost wedge-shaped front fascia takes a lot of its inspiration from the erstwhile EB110, while the impossibly-slim LED headlights along with the triple air-intake channels, massive front splitter and the iconic Bugatti ‘Horseshoe’ (placed right below the brand logo on the hood) give the Centodieci a really mean yet purposeful look.

At just 1.200 meters in height, the Bugatti Centodieci’s ultra-low profile masks its heft two-ton mass. Meanwhile, the beefy sides of the Centodieci are dominated by a distinctive character line that wraps around the car, along with five circular air intakes, sleek windows and tapered wing mirrors, massive wheels, and even more air intakes mounted in the rear haunches and just behind the doors.

The rear of the Bugatti Centodieci looks absolutely insane yet super modern, with its massive yet fixed carbon-fiber wing, unique and captivating LED tail lights, complex-looking aero kit which includes quad exhaust pipes, multiple air vents & channels plus a huge rear air diffuser. There’s no doubt; the Bugatti Centodieci is a car that simply won’t go unnoticed.

Interior

Bugatti hasn’t released any official photos of the interior of the 2020 Centodieci, presumably since it may not be a hundred percent ready yet? Well, who knows? But I imagine it wouldn’t be that different from what we currently see in the “regular” Chiron. Understandably, the elitist class will be able to customize several facets of the Bugatti Centodieci’s interior and cabin -- as money, in the case of the super wealthy, is merely a construct of one’s imagination.

Superior build, material quality and fit-and-finish have always been a Bugatti trademark, and that shall stand true for the Centodieci as well. The Centodieci’s cabin has adequate room for its two occupants, though getting in and out of this rather low cabin won’t be easiest thing to do. Customers should be able to enjoy nearly all the features and comforts that the Chiron has, as most/all of them would make their way into the 2020 Bugatti Centodieci as well.

Engine and performance

Motivation for the Bugatti Centodieci comes from the marque’s legendary 8.0-litre quad turbocharged W16 powerplant that, in this car, serves up a neat 1,579 bhp and a colossal 1,600 Nm of torque. This hugely powerful engine channels its immense potential to all four wheels via a buttery-smooth yet super fast 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The end result of Bugatti’s clever engineering means the Centodieci can go from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds.

Meanwhile, 0-200 km/h comes up in 6.1 seconds and the Bugatti Centodieci will blast past 300 km/h in only 13.1 seconds. While the Bugatti Centodieci can theoretically go up to 420 km/h, its maximum speed has been electronically-limited to 380 km/h.

Verdict

Bugatti

If this article got you all excited about the Bugatti Centodieci and you’d like to buy one, I’m afraid it’s too late for that. All 10 examples of this hypercar have already been sold out, with deliveries to customers set to commence somewhere in 2021. How much, you ask? The list price of the Centodieci is nearly USD 9 million or AED 33,000,000, and that’s not withstanding any additional costs you might incur over and above the base price. Of course, for those who can clearly afford it, the 2020 Bugatti Centodieci will remain one of the best collector’s item and a brilliant technical tour-de-force for decades to come.
