2020 Cadillac XT6 Test Drive
We received an invitation from Cadillac to participate in the launch of its newest car that will complete the brand’s range of SUVs. A very important 7-seater for Cadillac, showing us a lot about the company’s future design language, we spent a few hours behind the wheel of the all-new XT6.
With the XT6, Cadillac has been able to combine a comfortable seven-seater vehicle with a sporty design that retains the Cadillac identity we are accustomed to, which we will see on all Cadillac vehicles in the near future.
One of the most important features of this design is that the front and rear lights get more horizontal elements while retaining some of the vertical illumination that we are accustomed to from the brand.
The front of the car is the most beautiful aspect of this design, with a distinctive sporty grille on the premium luxury version with the intrusion of small chrome pieces inspired from the Cadillac logo. This grille is completely black on the Sport version of the XT6.
From inside, spaciousness is what you are going to find in the Cadillac XT6, as well as the luxurious materials used can be expected from any Cadillac. With higher versions, you can get a fully covered suede roof for example, and this luxury character complements high-quality leather throughout the cabin, and the inclusion of wood and suede pieces elegantly.
This luxury also come with a wide range of features, which will be controlled via an easy-to-use touch-screen infotainment system in the middle of the dashboard or via buttons in the center console. Our only note here is the small screen that comes with a new 2020 model. Although the screen size was good, we are now used to seeing at least 10-inch screens, especially if they are all-new models.
What we have liked most about the Cadillac XT6 despite its family size, is the way it drives. As we like to have some dynamic driving even in a family-friendly car, we can say that Cadillac has succeeded in giving the XT6 a distinctly dynamic driving character. Not only for its use of a V6 engine that generates 310 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque, but also for adopting an automatic gearbox with 9-speeds that delivers a smooth drive. Due to the excellent connection between the engine and the gearbox, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Cadillac is also interested in giving a great steering feedback and high maneuverability, which makes driving this car closer to driving a sedan and not a large SUV for seven passengers.
The Cadillac XT6 comes with two options: Luxury Premium and Sport, and we have to applaud Cadillac for giving us the Sport version, which has not only differed on the exterior, but has differed with several mechanical settings to give a more dynamic drive that you can feel immediately once you are behind the steering wheel.
Ultimately, the XT6 is a great addition to the Cadillac range. It already offers a luxury family car with a distinctive Cadillac identity that has always combined luxury with a dynamic sporty character. It is also an excellent choice for those who are looking for a well-equipped luxury car that can accommodate seven passengers in style.
Prices range from AED 230,000 to AED 290,000 for the full-option model.
