GMC Yukon 2017 Front

The SUV market is doing great and with many players joining the fray, consumers get to enjoy more features at very competitive prices. Take for example, two SUVs in the same spectrum, the GMC Yukon and the Chevrolet Tahoe. While these two examples are practically the same vehicle, both camps do their best to add their own flavor to win over the hearts of their customers.

Exterior

If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. This seems to be GMC’s approach as the exterior design for its trucks has remained virtually the same through the years - simple, rugged, and powerful. This design is also apparent in the GMC Yukon. This no-nonsense SUV epitomizes GMC’s legacy. The Chevrolet Tahoe, on the other hand, exudes mystery, charm, and intimidation. Perfect for the conservative driver and/or passenger, the Tahoe is dressed in abundant chrome trimmings and bold lines making it more attractive than its GMC rival. The Tahoe also comes with the optional Z71 off road package that includes a redesigned front end for an added 24-degree approach angle, skid plates, new wheels, and an updated digital display that shows the vehicle’s center of gravity.

Interior

The 2017 GMC Yukon carries its practicality and ruggedness in its interior with minimal tech and large, comfortable seats available in fabric or leather. The cockpit is classy and efficient but lacks that modern design. On the flip side, the Chevrolet Tahoe’s cabin is laid out in a more ergonomic manner with leather trimmings of light and dark brown. This complements the silver and faux wood accents that decorate the center console and the dashboard. Tech is also more generous in the Tahoe so it’s a great choice for young professionals.

Performance

Both trucks run a 5.3-liter V8 engine with 355 hp and 519 Nm of torque. Both will accelerate to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and will reach 200 km/h. One thing the Tahoe has which the Yukon doesn’t, is Magnetic Ride Control which automatically adjusts your damper settings depending on the terrain.

Verdict

GMC Yukon 2017 Rear

The top-of-the-line GMC Yukon 2017 is priced at AED 246,000. The high-end Chevrolet Tahoe 2017 LTZ 4WD costs a bit more at AED 257,000. The Chevy may cost more, but it does offer Magnetic Ride Control and the Z71 off-road package. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a more muscular, no nonsense “‘Murican” SUV with everything you’re going to need for the price, the GMC Yukon it is.
